An occasioned conversation between a lodger and his
landlord, upon burning a number of Rivington's Gazetteers.
Lodger: What flame, so sudden, thus attracts my eye?
What? Burn your news, good landlord; Why?
Landlord: News, sir, 'tis but an *ass-skin daub'd with
grease
And lamp black in a dirty press.
By slavish minds in court manoevres wrought;
With low-liv'd non-resistance fraught,
From Rivington, can no true light transpire,
Unless extracted thus by fire.
Lodger: Then in with more; make light and truth to shine:
Burn ev'ry ass-skin---here, sir, throw in mine.
