Extract of a letter from Cambridge, dated March 27. Among
other commodities belonging to the late garrison of Boston,
we have got an orderly book, by which it appears that
General Howe had 7,575 effective men, exclusive of staff, so
that with marines and sailors he may be considered at 10,000
strong. The number of cannon left behind, amounts to more
than 200, about 30 of them good. The following is a true
copy of a ticket printed with red ink, it was sealed with
the crest of the signers arms, I supposed. "This ticket,
being signed by the subscriber on the back, will admit one
gentleman to the masquerade at Concert-Hall, on the 10th of
March, 1776. The doors to be opened at seven o'clock."
The subscriber signed the back of a 10 of clubs, "Rt.
Pigot." . . . [44 lines]
