London, August 3---15. The gentlemen of a certain catch
club at the west end of town have voted a gold medal to the
author of the celebrated parody of The Duenna, in
acknowledgement of the satisfaction they have received in
the perusal of the songs, which are, in fact, more
laughable than can well be imagined: But the joke is, that
the author cannot be found to receive his reward. The
bookseller refuses to give him up, and the printer is sworn
to secrecy; so that it is probable the value of the medal
will be given to some public charity, and the foundling
hospital is talked of; to which, if we are rightly informed,
the writer of this piece has been a liberal contributor--in
more ways than one. . . [38 lines]
