The following contains the substance of the articles of
Capitulation between his Excellency General Washington and
Lord Cornwallis. A cessation of hostilities took place in
consequence of the following letter, viz. [32 lines] Art.
III. Settles the time, manner and order of the garrisons of
York and Glo'ster side, with shouldered arms, colours cased,
and drums beating a British march, to ground their arms and
return to their encampment, and remain until dispatched to
the places of their destination, &c. [43 lines, concluding
