The Lord Lieutenant of several counties [of Ireland], with
their dependent members, have already begun to open houses
of entertainment in their particular boroughs, where every
scene of riot and venality is in rehearsal. This is the
private, though not ostensible reason why parliament does
not meet till after Christmas, as the premier knew he should
play to a thin house, till the business of corruption was in
a fair (or rather a foul) way of being compleated.
