Th' exchequer will be fill'd at once
If, to seem modest you some faults confess,
The world suspect yet more, and never less;

Let those whom folly prompts to sneer,
Be told we sport with fable here;
Be told that dogs can morals teach;
And trees (like sound Casuists) preach.
