Nantes, Feb. 4. There is shewn in this city a girl of 19,
born in Poiton, who speaks without a tongue. After the
small pox, which she had at 8 years of age, her tongue
putrified and came away entirely. During the two first
years which followed this accident, she remained speechless,
making a noise only like a dumb person: after that she began
to talk a little, and asked her mother very distinctly for a
piece of bread. She has ever since retained the use of her
speech, and sings very easily.
