Index Entry | Hymn, sung in London, by Elizabeth Brownrigg before execution |
Location | London |
Citation | CG-NL.767.043 13 Nov 1767:22 (209) London, Sept. 14. This morning Elizabeth Brownrigg was carried from Newgate to Tyburn and there executed, pursuant to her sentence on Saturday last for the murder of Mary Clifford her apprentice. She behaved with great composure of mind, joining with the ministers in prayer, and singing an hymn.-- The crowd assembled to see her go, and at Tyburn, was perhaps never exceeded at any execution. |
