Bristol, March 4. Monday arrived at his house in Park
Street, Henry Cruger, Esq; one of the worthy representatives
in Parliament. And it being the first time of his return
home since the late dicision in his favour of the Committee
of the House of Commons, which confirmed him in his seat,
his constituents assembled in the most respectful manner to
compliment him on the occasion.
. . . On his arrival there, he left his own carriage, and
ascended a phaeton: with four horses and two postilions, and
being preceded by the gentlemen on horseback, the procession
began in the following order: 1. A pair of colours. 2.
Horsemen, two and two. 3. A pair of colours. 4. A band of
music. 5. A man on horseback, with the cap of Liberty, on a
pole ornamented. 6. Several gentlemen in scarlet uniform,
two and two. 7. Mr. Cruger. 8. The carriages. The roads were
lined with people, in such a manner, as was never before
remembered.
