Richmond, (Virginia) Feb 16. Tuesday last being the birth
day of his Excellency Gen. Washington, was observed in this
city, with every public and private demonstration of joy.
At noon minute discharges of thirteen pieces of cannon were
fired at the state house, and at four o'clock in the
afternoon, the same number from the shipping at Rocket's.
In the evening there was a numerous and brilliant assembly
of ladies and gentlemen from this city and the neighbouring
country; upwards of one hundred ladies, and an equal number
of gentlemen being present;
