New-Haven, September 17. On Wednesday the 10th inst. the
public commencement was celebrated in the University here.
In the morning an academic procession moved from the
college-library to the brick meeting-house, where the
exercises were opened with an anthem and prayer.
. . . After a public dinner, the accademic procession
returned, and the exercises of the masters were exhibited.
To an anthem succeeded and oration upon the rational man of
pleasure by Mr. Tutor Chester;. . .
