On Wednesday the seventh of April instant, upwards of fifty
ladies of the first parish in Medway, assembled together at
the Rev. Mr. Bucknams according to appointment. . . and
presented his lady with upwards of 120 score of linnen yarn,
the effects of their industry . . . [8 lines]
The evening was spent in singing by a number of young
gentlemen collected for that purpose, who presented Mrs.
Bucknam with twenty dollars towards paying for the weaving
of said yarn, and one of them with a handsome pair of shoes
for Mr. Bucknam. The whole was conducted with decency and
alacrity.
An example worthy of imitation.
