[News from London] Extract of a letter from Rome, Sept. 13.
Since the late affair happened in the church of St. Peter's,
the Pope, as well as many of the cardinals, are convinced of
their errors in regard of Catholicity. . . I had like to
have forgot acquainting you that the Pope appears in a lay
dress with bag and sword. He danced the 29th ult. at a
splendid ball given at the Vatican with the Princess of
Monaco, and has thrown off all that austerity which was
usual to the popes.
