London, February 11. . . [120 lines] A gentleman coming
through Macclesfield to London lately saw a number of lads
about 17 years old with cockades in their hats. He was
surprized to see boys so young taken as recruits. and asked
whether they were recruits or schoolboys? Upon which one of
them answered they were recruits to serve his majesty
against the rebels in North-America. The gentleman next
asked if they were to be drummers? They said they belonged
to the grenadier company in the Manchester regiment. This is
matter of fact.
