Fish-Kill, . . . [10 lines] July 2, 1782. We have been
very unexpectedly honoured with a visit from the Commander
in Chief---His Excellency Governor Clinton accompanied him.
They were received with uncommon marks of joy and

he went, the next day, to Schenactady; five miles from which
he was received by sixty of the principal inhabitants on
horseback, who attended him into the town amidst the ringing
of bells, firing of cannon, and every other possible
