Boston, Thursday, June 22. Extract of a letter from
Stockbridge, date June 6, 1769.
At an Indian Dance the last week, (the confusion and
disorder of which, when they are supplied with strong drink,
I can hardly describe to you) two brothers, overheated with
liquor, fell into contention: and one so wounded and abused
the other, that he expired in great agonies in about 30
hours after it.
. . . [6 lines follow on the evils of supplying liquor to
the Indians.]
