Extract of a letter from Newbury-Port, March 15. On the
evening of the 5th instant the several bells here were
tolled from 7 o'clock to 9, and two drums muffled were beat
through the streets, and a number of young persons followed
in procession, with as much solemnity as if they had been
attending a funeral. I imagine considerable improvements
will be made another year on this procedure.
[Event appears to be in commemoration of the massacre on
March 5, 1770.]
