Williamson came to Tomawsat, where he saw signs of Indians very fresh; detached Capts. Perkins and Anderson, with 60 men, to track them and reconnoitre; . . . saw two Indians, and fired at them; the Indians set up the war hoop and ran. . . [fight ensued] being now almost sunset, [we] were called off by beat of drum. |
