A Vision. Sitting the other evening, after supper, in my
elbow-chair, and being much fatigued with the varieties of
the past day, I fell into a profound sleep, and had the
following particular dream. . . [dreams of flocks of people
pursuing Happiness and Pleasure and seeming to catch
Pleasure:] One held up a purse of gold; another a bottle of
wine, . . . an eighth, a play and an opera bill, and tickets
for balls and assemblies; . . . [These eventually wind up
in deep pit. Those who caught Happiness] were received with
soft musick and hymns, setting forth theirs and others
praises. . .
