circumstantial account of what happened at the affair at
Shirrel's than any we have yet had. . .
January 31. I have spoke with Millen since he came in, who
tells me he came to a place where the Indians had a fire or
two; that a parcel of them jumped up with a great noise and
danced about a fire, but that he does not pretend so much
courage as to have stood counting them, on the contrary he
ran back as fast as he could. . .
