Thursday, 6th July, 1775. The order of the day being read,
the same was taken into consideration, and, after some
deliberation, it was unanimously, Resolved . . . [1 1/3

10. That we will in our several stations encourage
frugality, oeconomy, and industry; and promote agriculture,
arts, and the manufactures of this country, especially that
of wool, and will discountenance and discourage every
species of extravagance and dissipation, especially all
horse-racing, and all kinds of gaming, cock-fighting,
exhibition of shews, plays, and all other expensive
diversions and entertainments.
