The anniversary of the repulse of a squadron of the British
navy, under the command of Sir Peter Parker, in their attack
upon Fort Moultrie, on the 28th of June 1776 . . . [4 lines]
The morning was ushered in with ringing of bells . . . [12
lines] There were upon this occasion no less than three
grand public entertainments--one given by the officers of
the second regiment . . . [3 lines] at Fort Moultrie, where
were present, His Excellency the President, such members of
the legislature as could attend, the public officers, many
other gentlemen, and a brilliant assembly of ladies, who
were presented with a ball in the evening.
