Extract of a letter from a gentleman in France, February 23.
Friday evening, last se'nnight, by Order of the Commander in
Chief, the birth of the Dauphin of France, was celebrated at
West-Point,

The magnificent scene was closed with fire-works, and
dancing, the ladies from the neighbouring villages, having
greatly contributed to the happiness of the ceremony, by
favouring the gentlemen of the Army with their company on
this most joyful occasion.
