Political Entertainment. (Conclusion of the Ploughman.)
[Several paragraphs on symptoms of slavery to be avoided.]
Other symptoms of slavery are those corrupt assemblies,
called masquerades, balls, &c. the nurseries of dissipation,
and the most fatal vice in courts, from whence the contagion
spreads among the inferior ranks of the people; dissipation
creates indigence, and want of money to support it;
indigence with power without virtue never fails to introduce
tyranny, attended with never ending slavery.
