From the Massachusetts Gazette. . . a more particular
account of the Northampton Ladies rejoicing, on the news of
peace, . . .
Last Thursday (April 24th)
Was here, a day of joy, great mirth,
On the account of glorious peace,
(Swords to be sheath'd, all was to cease)
. . . [1 column follows on women's hardships during the war,
not recognized in the celebrations.]
'Twas then propos'd to dance and sing,
And close the whole--with--round by ring;
The whole perform'd ('twas said to be)
With utmost ----- regularity.
