Tuesday last the American company of comedians, not being
permitted to carry on their theatrical exhibitions, took a
precipitate leave of this city, -- They are gone to Maryland
as a place of "future permanent residence." It is presumed
they will be in no hurry to return to this metropolis.
The citizens of Annapolis are greatly indebted to the
comedians for a house of public utility--- the theatre there
frequently accommodating, in the course of the week, Stage-
Players--Rope-Dancers--Psalm-Singers-- and Preachers of
various denominations. Here too the strolling company of
politicians or State Jugglers, who are now also performing
one of their periodical excursions, will experience its
great convenience-- and the Leeites, the Dyerites, the
Shermanites--- and all the tribes of Elias the Perambulite,
will find suitable apartments for the discussion of knotty,
factious, and party subjects.
