London. . . The shameful subserviency of the last profligate
parliamentary performer, shewn in the celebrated opera of
the Conquest of America, at St. Stephen's theatre, under the
direction of the First Buffo Boreali, and the Maitre de
Ballet Sig. Georgi, ought to deter the new set from the same
conduct which disgraced and disgusted the taste of the
English nation.  It is impossible to hold up a truer picture
than that of the Earl of Sherburne, in his strictures on the
performers.  "If (says his Lordship) Boreali comes down one
day to the House, and says, 'You shall have a revenue; not a
pepper-corn, but a clear substantial revenue':  . . .  [1/4
