VERSES OCCASIONED BY MR. COLLY CIBBER'S EPITAPH ON MR. POPE,
in the Gentleman's Magazine for June, 1744.
What rake now doubts he has a soul to save,
When graceless Colly preaches o'er a grave;
Pope's verse he could not damn, in Part or whole;
But, like a hot-brain'd bigot, ___ damns his soul; . . .

Whilst all the good and just, --an awful throng,
Lament the muse who moraliz'd his song.
