Boston, April 16. Extract of a letter from an officer in
Capt. Gorham's company, dated at the river St. Croix, March
26, 1750, to a gentleman in this place. . . [39 lines
describing several skirmishes] We received a fire from the
enemy on all sides for six hours without intermission, which
we returned partly with beat of drum and huzza's, not caring
to spend our ammunition without a sure prospect of doing
execution. . . [21 lines conclude the letter].
