An Act for the Ordering and Regulating the Militia of this
Province, for the better Defence and Security thereof.

That the pay for the officers and soldiers of the foot and
horse aforesaid, be not other than is hereafter mentioned, .
. . To a Serjeant [of foot], four hundred pounds of tobacco
per month. To a Corporal, four hundred pounds of tobacco per
month. To a Drummer, four hundred pounds of tobacco per
month. To every Private soldier, three hundred pounds of
tobacco per month.
