Bath Journal, August 21. . . We hear from Chippenham, in the
County of Wilts, that Saturday last, on receiving the
Gazette Extraordinary, which confirmed the agreeable news of
the surrender of Louisburg, the bells were immediately rang:
In the evening the bailiff, burgesses, and principal
inhabitants of the town, assembled at the Angel Inn, and
drank many loyal healths; and there were illuminations,
bonfires, and other demonstrations of joy, on the occasion.
