At the provincial court held here last week, William
Rodwell, for killing Jonas Dawson in a fray, as formerly
mentioned, was tried, found guilty of manslaughter, and
burned in the hand with the letter M. It appear'd on the
trial, the L.G. the constable of the hundred was at the
fray, who told them, Not to swear; but they might fight and
be d-amn'd: Has this conscientious conservator of the
peace, but done his duty, he might possibly have sav'd the
life a good subject, and prevented a poor woman and five
children from suffering extreme want.
