London. . . May 13. . . Yesterday between twelve and one
o'clock a number of aldermen, &c. went in procession from
Guildhall to wait upon his Majesty with an address on the
Peace. Sir Charles Asgill, Bart. went in the Lord Mayor's
Coach, instead of his Lordship, who would not attend them.
The Address was most graciously received: But the
acclamations of their fellow-citizens were testified in the
most extraordinary way, by a general hiss. The bells at
several of the Churches were muffled, and gave them a dead
peal as they pass'd along the streets.
