Stolen from Torbay, at Hooper's Island, in Chesapeake Bay,
by James Brown and James Jamison, on the 5th of September
past, a schooner boat, the property of the subscriber, of 23
feet keel. . . [20 lines, description of boat and cargo]
The two villains who stole her, are both young men, and
sailors. Brown is of a dark complexion. . . Jamison is a
Westcountryman, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, has
yellowish coloured hair about 3 or 4 inches long, and sings
well. They made inquiry for a boat as if they wanted a
passage to some place, and finding there was none, they very
impudently went on board leaving the owner ashore. . . [5
lines]
Whoever will take up and secure the said boat, men, and
goods, and bring them either to Wiccomoco near Smith's
Point, or to Norfolk, shall receive fifty pounds reward,
paid by [signed] John Martin Baker.
