Extract of a letter from Bristol July 24. Last Thursday
evening produced one of the most agreeable sights we have
for many years experienced in this port, the arrival of the
James Capt. Atwood, from Virginia, laden with tobacco; she
was met in the river by a considerable number of very
respectable tradesmen, accompanied with a band of music, and
the banks of the Avon were crowded with spectators, who
congratulated each other on the happy prospect of a
returning commerce between this country and America. . .
