Baltimore Theatre, February 17, 1783. Dennis Ryan takes the
liberty of informing the generous patronizers of the
Baltimore Theatre, that he has undertaken the sole
management thereof; and flatters himself (from a
consciousness of his endeavouring to merit it) that he shall
meet with the same indulgence from an impartial public that
they have, upon all occasions, shewn to the late proprietor.
He is truly sensible of the many difficulties that may
oppose his wishes to conduct this infant stage on a regular
and extensive plan; yet those difficulties will not prevent
his exertions to render it a decent epitome of what all
civilized nations have allowed theatre to be, "The World in
Miniature; or, The School of Improvement."
