An extract from a law passed the last session of the General
Assembly of the State of Maryland, entitled An Act for the
more Effectual Paving the Streets of Baltimore-Town, in
Baltimore County, and for other purposes therein mentioned.
"Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland, that
the following taxes be levied in the Town and upon the
inhabitants of Baltimore-Town, towards paving, cleaning and
keeping in repair the streets, lanes and alleys, and for
mending, building, and keeping in repair the bridges within
said town, viz. . . [18 lines] A tax upon the Play-House, of
