London . . . July 30. . . France and England at present
appear to be in the situation of two persons walking a
minuet. They give the preliminary salute, then move
opposite to each other, France moves from Brest, England
from Portsmouth, France returns, England does the same, they
are opposite again, France lifts one leg, England another,
they advance to join hands, but draw back again. Whether
this slow work will end in a pas de deux against the Turks,
Heaven only knows.
