A letter from Charlestown South-Carolina says,
Last Thursday being the anniversary of his Majesty's birth,
when he entered his 35th year; the flags were displayed; the
bells rang; the great guns fired as usual; the Charles-Town
regiment of militia and the Artillery Company were
exercised, and performed to admiration. -- The Officers of
the militia gave an elegant entertainment, and the evening
concluded with ONE illumination--possibly owing to the
scarcity of tallow.
