Lancaster, December 31.  On Christmas day a brigade of
militia marched down within musket shot of the enemy's lines
in Philadelphia, and taking post between Third and Fourth
Streets, alarmed them by sending eight twelve pound balls
among them.  The enemy beat to arms and fired their
artillery, but happily did no damage . . . [2 more lines]
