Philadelphia, Oct.10. On Saturday the 5th inst. the ship
Royal-Charlotte, Capt. Holland, came up to this city,
attended by his Majesty's ship Sardine, James Hawker, Esq;
commander. Capt. Holland having brought from London the
stamp'd papers for Maryland, New-Jersey, and this province,
remained some time at Newcastle, on Delaware, under the
protection of the man of war. On the first appearance of
those ships round Glo'ster point, all the vessels in the
harbour hoisted their colours half-mast high, the bells
begun to ring, being first muffled, and continued so until
