NECO.721.015
6-13 Nov 1721:22 (15)
By letters from Dublin we are informed, that the ingenious
Mr. John Fiency of that place, has lately invented and made
a wonderful machine, or astronomical and musical clock, the
chief performance of which are as follow: viz: At the end
of every three hours, or at pleasure, it plays variety of
minuets, marches, hornpipes, jiggs, opera tunes, and country
dances, on the organ, flute, or flagellet, either single or
in consort, with such regular shakes, and proper graces, as
may deceive even the best masters of the flute. There are
also in this machine, small bagpipes, that play variety of
English, Scotch, and Irish tunes, agreeably surprizing to
the curious. Also likewise, shews the rising and setting of
the Sun, the length of the day and night, with its place in
the ecliptick, with right ascention, Declimation, and
equation of natural days. It shews likewise the increase,
decrease, full and change of the moon, with the twelve signs
of the zodiack. It also shews the time of high water; with
many other admirable curiosities too tedious to mention
here.
