London, Sept. 2. They write from Rome, that the Pope had
sent a guard of Cuirassiers with an officer to the Chevalier
de St. George at Albano, to give more lustre to his
residence there. On Saturday in the evening there was a very
fine piece of music sung by order of the Great Constable
Colonna, upon one of his garden bridges at Pilota, by two
musicians whose voices were accompanied by several
instruments. There were a great number of ambassadors
there, as well as Princes, Princesses, prelates, and other
persons of quality, and of the first families of Rome,
amongst whom a great quantity of refreshments were
distributed; after which a fine firework was plaid off, but
in the middle of it their diversion was interrupted by an
unlucky accident. Two servants falling out, they wounded
one another, and the noise of it drew several of the company
into a balcony that look'd into the yard where the servants
were, but there being a greater weight upon it than it could
bear, down it came at once. . . [11 lines identifying people
and their injuries.]
