In praises of the critick on Pitchero-Threnodia continu'd.
Hypercriticus proceeds in the next place, to make his remark
upon the word Huzza, in Stanz. VI.
Of this he says, I wish I had not met with it,. . . [14
lines]
But stay, he brings to his remembrance a piece of an old
song, which is a fine parity, viz.
There was four and twenty fidlers all in a row,
And there was twice fiddle, fiddle, &c.
What I learn from this is, that the Tantaras- Critick has a
capering mind, and a fiddleing fancy.
Therefore let the trumpeter and fidler know, that it's
unreasonable in any case, to make exception purely because
the author is neither an imitator nor plagary
Let him also understand, that the word huzza is a note of
conquest and triumph, and so is most properly us'd by the
author: yea, let him consider. . . [two more half columns,
