Falmouth, Febr. 11. Yesterday arrived here a ship in 14
days from Gibraltar, whose captain reports, that the Spanish
Army was advanc'd within reach of the cannon of Willis's
battery; that they had not made any attacks for want of
their heavy cannon,. . . [6 lines] that great numbers of
soldiers having deserted from the Spanish Army, an order had
been publish'd, by beat of drum at the head of every
regiment, forbidding both officers and soldiers, saying,
that the taking of Gibraltar was impracticable, on pain of
death; and requiring them to encourage one another in
believing they should soon become masters of that fortress.
