Groningen, Sept. 17.  Two days ago the Prince of Orange and
Nassau received his homage of this province a stadtholder
thereof, and made his entrance in this city in the following
manner:  . . .
6. A cavalcade of 12 officers walking two and two, among
whom were. . . The staff officers had all white, and the
others orange feathers in their hats, and all of 'em had
very rich cloaths, embroider'd with gold and silver.
7.  A drummer.
8. Four trumpeters.
9.  The herald at arms, Adrian Goldhamp. . . 
   Before the court was erected a triumphal arch, and the
great gallery in the hall was likewise adorned with garlands
of flowers and festoons, and about his Highness's court were
placed a great number of orange trees.  All the burghers
were under arms, bells rung, and colours were display'd from
the town of the Church of St. Martin's and the chimes
playing at the same time.  In the evening there were very
fine fireworks play'd off cannon discharged, bonfires made,
with illuminations, and all other rejoicings.
