Corsica, Octob. 11. The 27th of Sept. our pretended King
Theodore. . . [talked chiefs of the malcontents into taking
Bastia.] . . . P.S. The council was held about eleven
o'clock in the morning; and about one they proceeded to
church, to give thanks to the almighty for the success
thereof; when Te Deum was sung by 12 musicians; and
afterwards a collect was read by Abbot Lacerty, imploring
God's assistance, and success, in the undertakings of the
King's army. These rejoycings were continu'd to the 15th;
and the 20th the Lord Theodore's nephew put himself at the
head of about 300 regular troops to join the malcontents,
who had with them 10 pieces of ordnance, and some mortars,
for an expedition.
