Thursday last the funeral solemnities for the death of her
late Majesty Queen Caroline, were observed, according to the
order of the governour and Council of the 9th instant. . .
The bells of all the churches in town were tolled from eight
o'clock in the forenoon to eleven, and from one in the
afternoon to six in the evening, and half minute guns were
fired at His Majesty's Castle William, the old batteries in
town and the ships in the harbour, during the whole
afternoon. These outward marks of grief were accompanied
with the general and sincere sorrow of the people for the
loss of our excellent and incomparable Queen.
