April 30. At Macon, near Nugent in France, two grave
diggers perceiving a scull they had thrown up to move, they
run and fetch'd the parson, who seeing it move also, cry'd
as did all the spectators, a maracle! a maracle!
He immediately sent for a cross, Holy Water, a surplice,
&c. after which he put the scull in a dish, with a napkin
over it, and carry'd it in procession to the church, where
he placed it with great ceremony an the high altar, and
began Te Deum; but as they were singing the verse Te per
orbem terrarum, a mole came from the scull, and put an end
to their praising the Lord. This accident may, however,
instruct the priests to make a more lasting miracle.
