New York, March 24. An Express come to Town on Saturday
Morning last from Albany, and it's reported, brought word,
that a large body of French and Indians had, on Friday the
13th instant, laid siege to Fort William Henry, near Lake
George, but that they were by our brave garrison beat off
two different times with considerable loss, and obliged to
retreat some distance: And that such reinforcements from
our forces and the country above were gone up to the Fort's
assistance, that it was not doubted but they would put the
enemy to the rout, and before they had occasion to sing Te
Deum, be made to repent their fruitless attack.
